State of the PRS – 2019, Quarter 1

This is the latest State of the PRS report. It focus on the rollout of Universal Credit and the difficulties the roll-out has created for landlords. The research, conducted by Edge Hill University makes a number of recommendations for government.

Here you will find our Section 21 research – the largest ever non-Government survey of the PRS supply-side.

Possession Reform in the PRS: Section 21

Section 21 has provided an important assurance to landlords that they can regain possession of their property in legitimate circumstances. In response to proposed reform, the RLA launched what has become the largest ever non-government survey of the PRS to establish what Section 21 means to landlords, agents and those supporting the supply of private rented properties.

Section 21: Your Views, Your Research

The RLA's Policy Manager John Stewart reports on what the RLA has been doing to protect members' rights in the face of government proposals to abolish Section 21. PEARL, the RLA’s research lab, was set up to provide high-quality research and analysis on the economic, social and political issues facing the private rented sector.

The RLA believes in the importance of policymakers considering the evidence and the potential consequences in their decision-making. Through PEARL, we provide the expertise, evidence and research, to enable evidence led policy making in the private rented sector.

Our ultimate aim is to influence decision makers to translate our research findings into an improve renting experience. Enabling landlords to do the right thing – for their businesses, their tenants, and the industry as a whole.
